The situation is that on the occasion of Dev Snan, there is a tradition of bathing Lord Jagannath with the water of 108 wells. But due to the wells disappearing in the city, in this tradition instead of water from 108 wells, water from 27 wells has been used.

In Hindu pooja 27 kuon ka jal (water of 27 sacred wells) has great importance in hawan , dev snaan, nakshatra poojan and many festivals .
